a workshop about the history of how we decide what’s normal for boys or girls

100 years ago, little boys and girls both wore dresses, but only boys wore pants. More girls played baseball in the 19th-century than play it now. Toys were mostly ungendered.

Today, almost every item associated with childhood—including personality traits—is gendered. Why? Where does the pink/blue divide come from? How does it impact our kids? What can we do about it?

This workshop is for educators, parents, and anyone who works with or for kids, or ever was one. I have presented at schools, media companies, universities and to small groups of parents or educators. To book me at your school, business, or for a parent or other group, email me.
